Public Art Walk & Festival

The Art Resource Collaborative for Kids (ARCK) and Operation P.E.A.C.E., have joined forces to host “Together Through Art, a Public Art Walk & Festival,” from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 28.

The public art walk will feature prominent public art pieces in the Fenway neighborhood, starting at Ruggles MBTA Station, and will conclude with an interactive art-making experience and celebration at the final stop on Jersey Street outside Fenway Park.

Out of the Park                                                                    

In partnership with the Boston Red Sox and the City of Boston, the Highland Street Foundation will present Out of the Park on the Boston Common on Saturday, Aug. 28. The event starts at 2:30 p.m. and the game begins at 4:05 p.m.

Watch the Red Sox vs. the Cleveland Indians on a big screen and enjoy games, entertainment and refreshments. All are welcome at this free event - no advance registration required.    

Out of the Park attendees will get a chance to meet Red Sox mascot Wally, savor Fenway Franks and other ballpark treats, hear from the Hot Tamales Brass Band, and enjoy activities such as face painting, caricatures, balloon art, and baseball-themed games.

Pianist Daniel Hsu concert

Celebrated pianist Daniel Hsu will perform at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Aug 28 at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, 25 Evans Way.

MASCO/Outside events and activities

MASCO/Outside will host public outdoor events in the Longwood Medical and Academic Area through mid-October.

Free August Adventures with Highland Street Foundation

The Highland Street Foundation will partner with special Massachusetts cultural institutions to provide one free activity each day for 31 days in August. Here is a list of the Boston venues:

– Aug. 28: Out of the Park, Boston Red Sox & City of Boston

– Aug. 31: John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum

For safety reasons, many of the participating venues have limited capacity and are requiring advanced registration.

Available spots are distributed on a first come, first served basis.

Navigator summer workshops

The Navigators will hold several summer workshops at the Fenway Community Center, 1282 Boylston St. All sessions will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesdays through Thursdays on select weeks and will include an outdoor trek and themed activities. All participants will earn badges. Lunch will be provided.

Cocktails in the Park 

Party in the Park, a unique cocktail party at Pinebank Promontory overlooking the picturesque Jamaica Pond, will be held from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 22. RSVP by Sept. 1.

All proceeds support the revitalization of Charlesgate Park, a critical link in the region’s park network.

Temple Israel Poets with Rhoada Wald and Friends

TILLI (Temple Israel Lifelong Learning Initiative) members will share their poetry and Rhoada Wald will read poems from her new book, The House That Loved Us from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 2.

This event will be held in the Courtyard at Temple Israel Boston, 477 Longwood Ave. This free event is open to all poetry lovers.

Reading the Rainbow Book Group

Run to Home Base                                         

The Run to Home Base, presented by Raytheon Technologies, is a unique 9K run and 5K run/walk through scenic Boston, ending with a once-in-a-lifetime experience of finishing the race by crossing Fenway Park’s famed home plate.

The event will be held on Saturday, Sept. 25. The opening ceremony will begin at 7 a.m. and the race will start at 8 a.m.

Friends and family can watch participants from the stands at Fenway with food, entertainment and fun family activities in the concourse of America’s most beloved ballpark.

The Run to Home Base is their most critical, annual fundraiser providing vital funds for the clinical care and support for veterans and their families who are impacted by the invisible wounds of war.

‘Collages and Constructions’ Juried Exhibition          

The Menino Arts Center will showcase the “Collages and Constructions” juried exhibition through Tuesday, Sept. 27. The mixed media exhibition features 44 pieces from the 38 artists juried by Ekua Holmes and curated by Sasja Lucas.

This exhibition will be viewable both in person at the Menino Arts Center, 26 Central Ave., Hyde Park and in a virtual 3D gallery that you can stroll through at www.hpaa-mac.org/ exhibits.

Donating blood is the easiest way to save a child's life. Donate blood or platelets at the Children's Blood Donor Center at 333 Longwood Ave. – an independent collection facility serving the needs of the pediatric patients in the Longwood Medical Area.

Seventh-Inning Stretch                                                                                            

Fenway Park organist Josh Kantor celebrated the one-year-iversary (365 days and 168 episodes) of the “Seventh-Inning Stretch” show on March 29, 2021 which continues to air at 3 p.m. on Mondays.

So, tune in live at www.facebook.com/7thinningstretch2020 and continue to take a stretch, sing along and enjoy some favorite traditional and contemporary songs, as well as some special guests.

Although the show is still fun and free, he suggests that viewers make a donation to their local food bank.

Morning meditation with Cantor Alicia Stillman

Begin the day grounded and grateful at 9 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This 45-minute morning meditation is a screens-optional experience where the participants will engage in musical morning blessings, gentle chant, mindfulness and sitting together in both silence and guided meditation. The participants will awaken their breath and imagination toward a grateful, grounded and energized day.

The Boston Cyclists Union                                                                          

The Boston Cyclists Union invites people to get involved and join a working group or committee.

– Volunteer working groups (Activist Group and Programming Group) meet monthly and play an important role in planning and organizing the Bike Union programs and campaigns. Participation in these groups offers a more active, “on-the-ground” influence than traditional volunteer opportunities.

– The three board committees (Development, Finance and Operations, and Governance) support the staff in long-term planning and strategy. Each committee meets monthly.

Free meals/food resource information                               

Boston Eats will provide free nutritious breakfast and lunch to city kids and youth – 18 years of age and under – through 2021. No ID or registration required.

East/West Fens food distribution

Fenway Cares will hold a bi-weekly fresh food distribution from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. on select Wednesdays in West Fenway at the Fenway Community Center (1282 Boylston St.) and East Fenway at Symphony Community Park (39 Edgerly Rd.). 

If you are immunocompromised or physically unable to pick up a box at either location, you can request a produce box be dropped off at your building by a Fenway Cares volunteer.

BSO and Pops at home        

The BSO offers a wide variety of audio and video options of some of their greatest performances in Symphony Hall and at Tanglewood.

There will also be video tutorials with BSO musicians created to support students and at-home learning along with some behind the scenes videos from BSO musicians and conductors (sharing life off-stage) featuring anecdotes, personal reflections and insights, and short informal performances.
