The enjoyment begins upon arrival at 100 Shawmut, stepping into the beautifully appointed lobby, punctuated by a stunning pass-through fireplace.

For those who have been waiting for the opportunity to move into one of the city’s newest luxury residential buildings, the time has arrived. 100 Shawmut, which has been under construction in the South End, is nearing completion. Residents have already been arriving for occupancy into this rising tower of comfort and joy that sits atop the Washington Street and Shawmut Avenue corridors. It’s a popular area that is alive with retail, commercial, community and cultural attractions.

This new 14-story residential project, developed by The Davis Companies, offers a wide range of one-of-a-kind condominium residences – from studios to four-bedrooms.

A lot of thought and care went into preserving the “sweetness of the original structure.” The 232,000-square-foot property, designed by The Architectural Team (TAT – based in Chelsea), “seamlessly integrates the historic character of the original 1920s facade with a newly constructed glass structure.” The original brick and arched windows form the heart of the hybrid building, topped with elegant, angular glass curtain walls showcased on the upper levels.

The slate of amenities includes private resident dining and conference rooms, a great room (shown here), billiards room, activity lounge, library and a modern fitness center.

There’s plenty to love about living at 100 Shawmut. EMBARC Studio of Boston, the interior design team, “has created a modern approach to the interiors with a mixture of white oak wood detailing and textural stone conveying a warm, neutral color palette, transitioning and merging the historic architecture with a fresh, new interior.”

The new residents will enjoy a treasure-trove of features that create an exceptional blend of classic character and contemporary comfort, complemented by an ample expanse of glass providing impressive panoramas of the Boston skyline.

Some of these luxurious facets inside the units, which range in size from 461-to-3,021 square feet, include elegant designs and white oak wood floors throughout.

The professionally-designed upscale kitchens come with state-of-the-art, fully integrated Bosch, Gaggenau and Thermador appliances. There’s also Miami white Silestone countertops in the kitchens and in the spa-like baths.

These homes have en suite primary bedrooms and many have private balconies. The units also include central air/heat and in-unit washers and dryers.

Getting a great night of sleep in any of the units at 100 Shawmut is easy in each of its luxuriously-designed bedrooms.

One of the first people to buy a home at 100 Shawmut is Len Usuyar. He’s been enjoying his new one-bedroom, north-facing unit on the 11th floor. He put in his down payment before the home was completed, using photos as his guide. “They certainly outdid themselves from what I expected from the [renderings],” he said.

All the homes at 100 Shawmut have high ceilings and large windows, providing abundant natural light and great views of Back Bay, South End, Financial District and South Boston.

Usuyar is very impressed by the many fine touches found throughout his home, including his wi-fi-enabled dishwasher. “They paid attention to the little things… I like that there are plenty of outlets and the units are well-lit with many different types of fixtures. And I forgot how high the ceilings really are… They really went all out.”

He also enjoys the up-scale appliances. And he finds the building management and staff to be “very nice” and “attentive,” as if you’re staying at a luxury hotel.

Usuyar also likes the fact that the units are not “square boxes.” The homes have character. “The design is cool,” he said.

Other things that impress him – the way the historic character of the building on the lower floors was preserved and of course, the incredible views from throughout 100 Shawmut.

The residents also enjoy the comprehensive suite of amenities that make living in this full-service lifestyle building a special experience.

The enjoyment begins upon arrival, stepping into the beautifully appointed lobby lounge, featuring personal, ultra-luxury 24-hour concierge service, punctuated by a stunning pass-through fireplace.

A suite of spaces designed for entertainment and leisure include private resident dining and conference rooms with caterer’s kitchens, a great room, billiards room, activity lounge, library and a modern fitness/wellness center.

And that’s not all. Kids will delight in the children’s playroom and the family pet will relish being pampered at their own spa.

100 Shawmut features three levels of outdoor green spaces, including a peaceful third floor courtyard.

The residential treats are not just inside. Numerous outdoor spaces include a peaceful third floor courtyard as well as the large 13th floor rooftop terrace and entertaining space, dubbed the "100 Club" and a SkyLounge on the 14th floor - each equipped with gas grills and fire tables. These high-up outdoor spaces all offer amazing views of the picturesque panorama of the city’s skyline.

Other building perks include an elevator, private storage units and private parking in the self-park underground garage. Resident can also take advantage of the building’s Tesla on Demand. These cutting-edge, high-in-demand electric vehicles are available to all residents to reserve seamlessly via their mobile phones. And for those who like to peddle their way around, there’s complimentary bike storage for all residents.

The home is within walking distance of the very popular SoWa Art and Design District, which offers a seasonal farmers market and entertainment; not far from the Boston Center for the Arts featuring the historic Cyclorama; and the Underground at Ink Block with walking trails, plein air fitness and events. It’s also within easy reach of Peter’s Park (which includes separate children’s and doggy playgrounds), Castle Square Parks, the William Gary Walsh Playground and the Berkeley Community Garden.
