USS Constitution Flag Raising

Flag raising to honor the first female USS Constitution Commander, Billie Farrell will be held at 10 a.m. on Sunday, June 5 at the USS Constitution, Charlestown Navy Yard, 93 Chelsea St.

The event will include a speech by Commander Farrell, activities, coffee and treats.

Free fitness classes will be held in neighborhood parks and on Zoom from Sunday, June 5 through Saturday, Oct 1.

The Trustees will talk about their strategic approach at addressing climate change across the state along the coast from noon to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 8, World’s Ocean Day.

Annual Chief Marshal Banquet

Celebrate the 2022 Chief Marshal of the Parade, Margaret Tiernan Klessens, with the Parade Committee and Bunker Hill Associates. Mrs. Klessens is a 97-year-old Army veteran of WWII.

‘The Bomb-itty of Errors’

Take four actors, a DJ, one of Shakespeare’s funniest comedies, remix it and what do you get? A Hip-Hop-Opera that moves the crowd. Old school meets really old school in this upbeat tale of mistaken identity.

Actors’ Shakespeare Project will present “The Bomb-itty of Errors” through Tuesday, June 26 at Charlestown Working Theater in Charlestown.

BPDA's Model Room

The BPDA's model room houses a 1:40 inch scale, physical, basswood model of Boston's downtown and portions of Beacon Hill, the North End, Charlestown, Back Bay and the South Boston waterfront.

The Boston Public Library hosts the Future Readers Club for children, ages five years and younger, and their caregivers, with a goal of reading 1,000 books together before the child begins kindergarten.

Help save a life by donating blood at the Boston Blood Donation Center, 274 Tremont St. (inside the Tufts Medical Center) to help end the critical shortage status with the Red Cross:

Spaulding Rehabilitation Network Activities

The Spaulding Rehabilitation Network will continue to offer virtual, onsite and specialty programing on select days and times, including yoga, movement and mediation, fitness training, indoor cycling, sled hockey, pickleball, wheelchair basketball and indoor rock climbing, green growers plant therapy and found sound, among others.

USS Constitution and Museum                              

The USS Constitution at the Charlestown Navy Yard will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesdays through Sundays. Enjoy a free, guided tour of Old Ironsides or explore the top deck at your own pace.

The USS Constitution Museum is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Bunker Hill Monument, Lodge and Museum

The Bunker Hill Museum – where visitors can explore more about the Battle of Bunker Hill, the construction of the Bunker Hill Monument, the memory of the battle and the history of the Charlestown neighborhood – is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday.

The Bunker Hill Museum, the Lodge and the base of the Monument are accessible. The only means to reach the top of Bunker Hill Monument is via 294 stairs; at the top of the monument, you can view the surrounding area through 360-degree Live Webcams. 

Until further notice, the Bunker Hill Monument remains closed.

Historic neighborhood tour

The Charlestown Preservation Society features a self-guided historic neighborhood tour, with information available at

The 1.5-mile route winds through Boston’s oldest neighborhood, through charming neighborhood squares and street, and past historic houses and monuments. Read about Charlestown’s history and people and peek inside many buildings through interior photographs.

Harvest on Vine Food Pantry – Donations and Distributions

The Harvest on Vine Food Pantry, 49 Vine St. (Hayes Square) is requesting donations of non-perishable foods along with toiletries and cleaning products and/or monetary contributions to help serve the increasing number of residents in need of assistance – more than 500 families per month, a 100 percent increase from last year. Any and all donations are greatly appreciated.

Food distributions take place at 10 a.m. on the second Saturday of the month and at 2 p.m. on the last Tuesday of the month. The Pantry is also looking for volunteers to assist with distribution.

If you are in need of assistance, please arrive at the distributions with a proof of residence.

The Mayor's Office of Food Access works to improve the accessibility and affordability of healthy food that reflects the diversity of the residents of Boston.

Monetary and food donations are being accepted for the Food Insecurity Program at NEW Health. More than 100 families per month are being served.

Disaster Relief Donations

The Charlestown Lions Club is collecting donations to support the Disaster Relief Fund. The donations will be used to benefit those affected by COVID-19 and other disasters.

All proceeds will be donated – there are no administrative costs. Checks may be made out to Charlestown Lions Club – LCIF and sent to: P.O. Box 290474, Charlestown, MA 02129.
