Open Studios at the StoveFactory Studios and Gallery

Open Studios at the StoveFactory Studios and Gallery, 523 Medford St. will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 4 and Sunday, Dec. 5.

Enjoy seeing art where it's made. Witness a working letterpress printing workshop plus textile art, design, painting, ceramics, and more. Housed within a former 19th-century stove factory building, artists and artisans open their studios and workspaces for the public to roam. Fine art, crafts and holiday gifts are available for purchase. Meet local artists in the community, ask questions, and maybe come away with something new.

The new winter exhibit of art in diverse media will also be on view through Sunday, Dec. 14.

Nutcracker Dance Party​                                                     

Kids, ages 4 to 10, are invited to join Mini Movers Studio at Allo Charlestown, 198 Eighth St. #600 for a special holiday event from 4 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 4.

The event will include a Nutcracker themed dance class, activities, craft, and treat.

Face masks are required. Wearing ballet outfits are encouraged.

FitCrew Bootcamp                                                                                                   

Join the FitCrew Community for a fun-filled class that gets your body moving and heart rate going from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesdays at The Anchor, 1 Shipyard Park.

An accessible fitness class for all levels focused on improving strength and conditioning through the use of bands, bodyweight and other equipment. Each exercise is timed so participants can work at their own pace.

The Boston by Foot Heart of the Freedom Trail tours will be offered at 11 a.m. and The Road to Revolution tours will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturdays in November.

Community sled hockey practices                          

Community sled hockey practices will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 1 and Dec. 15 at Emmons Horrigan O'Neil Memorial Rink, 150 Rutherford Ave.

Sled hockey enables youth and adults to play hockey in a seated position with blades beneath them. Coaching and equipment will be provided to participants in all sled hockey sessions. 

Practices and clinics consist of group drills, small games, scrimmaging and individual coaching. Sessions are open to able-bodied friends and family members as well.

An aerobics class will be held at 10 a.m. on Mondays and a Tai Chi class will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesdays for seniors at the Kennedy Center, 55 Bunker Hill.

Friday Unwind: Gentle Yoga         

Join the Boston Public Library remotely from 4 to 5 p.m. on Fridays for a gentle yoga class by Hands to Heart Center (HTHC). Participants can expect a beginner-level one hour yoga flow, with plenty of options and modifications for all bodies and ability levels. All are welcome.

Future Readers Book Club and events

The Boston Public Library hosts the Future Readers Club for children, ages five years and younger, and their caregivers, with a goal of reading 1,000 books together before the child begins kindergarten.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston offers accessible and affordable after-school time programming to children and teens in Boston and Chelsea.

USS Constitution and Museum                              

The USS Constitution at the Charlestown Navy Yard will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesdays through Sundays. Enjoy a free, guided tour of Old Ironsides or explore the top deck at your own pace. The crew will host a live virtual tour at 1 p.m. on Mondays.

The Constitution Museum is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Bunker Hill Monument, Lodge and Museum

The Bunker Hill Museum – where visitors can explore more about the Battle of Bunker Hill, the construction of the Bunker Hill Monument, the memory of the battle and the history of the Charlestown neighborhood – is open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesdays through Sundays.

The Bunker Hill Museum, the Lodge and the base of the Monument are accessible. The only means to reach the top of Bunker Hill Monument is via 294 stairs; at the top of the monument through 360-degree Live Webcams. 

Until further notice, the Bunker Hill Monument remains closed.

Historic neighborhood tour

The 1.5-mile route winds through Boston’s oldest neighborhood, through charming neighborhood squares and street, and past historic houses and monuments. Read about Charlestown’s history and people and peek inside many buildings through interior photographs.

Harvest on Vine Food Pantry – donations and distributions                                                      

The Harvest on Vine Food Pantry, 49 Vine St. (Hayes Square) is requesting donations of non-perishable foods along with toiletries and cleaning products and/or monetary contributions to help serve the increasing number of residents in need of assistance – more than 500 families per month, a 100 percent increase from last year. Any and all donations are greatly appreciated.

Food distributions take place at 10 a.m. on the second Saturday of the month and at 2 p.m. on the last Tuesday of the month. The Pantry is also looking for volunteers to assist with distribution.

If you are in need of assistance, please arrive at the distributions with a proof of residence.

Free meals/food resource information                               

Boston Eats will provide free nutritious breakfast and lunch to city kids and youth – 18 years of age and under – through 2021. No ID or registration required.

Monetary and food donations are being accepted for the Food Insecurity Program at NEW Health. More than 100 families per month are being served.

The Charlestown Lions Club is collecting donations to support the Disaster Relief Fund. The donations will be used to benefit those affected by COVID-19 and other disasters.

RMH Boston Harbor needs household items to support their families throughout their stay and ensure apartments are fully stocked with essential items at all times.
