The Hingham Raiders 6th grade football team beat division rival Marshfield Rams over the weekend 12-0 to remain unbeaten at the midpoint of the season.

This game proved to be a physical matchup with linemen Breece Achilles, Matt Griffin, Mac Corey, Liam Lynch and Charlie Shape disrupting the Rams’ offense with tackles for loss. Linebackers Wyatt Averett and Jack Daley made key stops to force a turnover on downs early in the game.

Quarterback Peter Bourque led the offense with a long pass over the middle to Will Haggerty for a 30 yard gain. Bourque ran off tackle behind Leopold Kuehberger and Shape to set up a first and goal at the 9-yard line. Bourque delivered a quick pass to Haggerty for the touchdown putting the Raiders ahead 6-0. The defense remained steadfast in stopping the Marshfield rushing attack with Matt Thorley and Deacon Evriviades forcing a 4th and long where Daley stood up the runner forcing a turnover on downs.

Bourque settled in behind his offensive line of Shape, Eli Melendez, Kuehberger, Matt Griffin, Andrew Sullivan and Corey, wasting no time rolling right and hitting his tight end JT Reale for a 33-yard touchdown pass putting the Raiders up 12-0.

On defense Matt Thorley made a big stop on third down and then Achilles, Shape and Griffin stuck the Marshfield ball carrier for a loss sending the Raiders into the half up 12-0.

The rushing combo of Bourque, Chase Beighley, Daley and Owen Benard pounded the ball downfield to start the second half. Bourque threw a sideline pass where Evriviades made a sensational catch on his back to set up a first and ten at the 11 yard line. Two play later Bourque passed to Haggerty who made it down to the 2 yard line but the Marshfield defense held strong and stopped the drive at the goal line.

With their backs to the goal line, Marshfield tried running outside but was met with open field tackles by Evriviades, Haggerty and Averett which forced the Rams to punt. Both teams traded drives in the fourth quarter and the Raiders defense got tackles for loss from Achilles, Griffin and Daley to secure the victory and their third shutout of the season.



Hingham 32, Marshfield 0

The offense was explosive and Hingham’s strong defense clinched the 32-0 victory. The Raiders got it started with Cole Riordan taking a handoff and reversing to Hunter Grace who ran it 56 yards for an opening touchdown. Tommy Riordan punched it in for the 2 points to go up 8-0.

The defense shut down the Rams with explosive tackles from Mark Donlan, Greyson Liebsch and Gavin Fabella to force a turnover on downs. QB Nate Shatzkamer was spectacular completing 4-of-5 passes on the day with his first pass connecting to Cole Riordan for a 54 yard touchdown. From the shotgun, Shatzkamer bolted outside the blocking of Lachlan Knies, Nico Cicerone for the two-point conversion. After run stopping tackles by Greyson Liebsch, Donlan, and Kieran Sheehan the Raiders were back on offense.

Tommy Riordan led the rushing attack with over 100 yards and a TD while Shatzkamer hit Cole Riordan in stride for a 43 yard TD pass and Kieran Sheehan hammered his way in for the two-point conversion. Alec Menuchi capped off the scoring with his first touchdown.
