Over the past eight years, the Lynda J. Talbot Memorial Fund has given out over $100,000 in donations. Close to $50,000 has been donated to families / individuals battling all forms of cancer and $36,000 has been given out in scholarships to deserving Danvers High Students. In years past, donations have also been made to Care Dimensions Pediatric Hospice Facility, the Beth Israel Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Fund as well as other cancer related organizations.

Recently, the focus on the fund has been on providing financial support to local families battling cancer.

“Over the past eight years, this event has allowed us to provide financial assistance to many local families battling cancer,” said Stacy (Talbot) Bazylinski.  “Last year’s event was attended by more than 500 runners and walkers and we were once again very successful in raising enough funds to support many local families from Danvers as well as surrounding communities.”

Bazylinski was 12 and Julie (Talbot) Donnelly was 10 when their mom Lynda J. Talbot of Danvers was first diagnosed with breast cancer. Twenty three years after the first diagnosis, they lost their mom to cancer and then started the annual event in her name.

“Once again we are so thankful to everyone who has supported us year after year,” said Donnelly.  “Local businesses/organizations such as The Berry Tavern, Danvers Fresh Marketplace, Kaffmandu Coffee House, Boot Camp with Kelly, Miss Nancy Parties and Program, En Vogue Salon, Yellow Jackets Gymnastics Club, Danvers High Soccer Boosters and so many others are helping us out again this year. We couldn’t do this without the help of so many people and we are beyond grateful.”

The Talbot sisters, their family and Lynda’s husband, Bruce, are organizing the race along with Kristen Clark, Dani Baldassare, Dena Chase, Kristen Cullen, Keri Demers, Allison Eaton, Kathy Gardner, Jani Wilichoski, Lauren Burke, Natasha Coyne, Jennifer Chase and Michelle Dustin.
