Wildlife oasis

The Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation will host “An Oasis for Wildlife” at Belle Isle Marsh, 1236 Bennington St., at 8:15 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 5.

The community is invited to discover the abundant birdlife at the reservation, a restored wildlife sanctuary. Participants will walk while birding for about one mile on easy level terrain. Some binoculars and a spotting scope will be available to borrow, but visitors should bring them if they have them.

This free program is co-sponsored by the Friends of Belle Isle Marsh.

Oscar winners

Church at the Well will host free movie nights in Bremen Street Park at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 5, 12 and 19.

The screenings will include the animated feature films “Zootopia” on Aug. 5; “Inside Out” on Aug. 12; and “Big Hero 6” on Aug. 19. These films all won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature Film (2015 to 2017.)

Attendees are welcome to bring their blankets and chairs and enjoy family friendly entertainment on a 9 feet tall x 16 feet wide giant screen.

Music in the park

Piers Park on Marginal Street will host a musical concert with Avi Jacob at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 6.

Latin American beats

The Berklee College of Music and ParkARTS will host the 12th annual Tito Puente Music Series with a performance by Los Hacheros at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 10 at Lopresti Park, 33 Sumner St.

This Puerto Rican and Cuban influenced band is reviving Latin folkloric styles such as son montuno, guaracha and salsa by combining them with the fiery rhythms of bomba. Though only consisting of six musicians, the band is known for their enthusiasm and improvisation that keeps audiences on their toes.

Admission is free. The rain location will be Zumix Firehouse, 260 Sumner St.

Yoga on the green

The East Boston Branch Library, 365 Bremen St., will host a free yoga session on the green at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 17.

Each yoga class will begin with a short meditative walk through the community garden, followed by yoga on the library lawn. In case of inclement weather, participants will adjourn indoors. Instructor Theresa of LEGIT.yoga will lead the class.

Participants should bring a yoga mat if possible; there will be a few available to borrow.

Group art exhibit

Atlantic Works Gallery, 80 Border St., is presenting “Friends,” a group show of Atlantic Works members and their invited guests, now to Aug. 19.

A closing reception will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 17.

Farmers’ market

A farmers’ market sponsored by the East Boston Neighborhood Health Center is being held from 3 to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesdays through Oct. 25 at Lewis Mall, behind the Maverick MBTA station on Sumner Street.

The produce, herbs, vegetables and fruit are all Massachusetts-grown. Fresh baked goods and fresh fish will also be available. The market will also feature performances by local musicians, information on healthy eating and activities for children.
