Stepping into the lobby of The Clarendon at the corner of Clarendon and Stuart streets in the Back Bay means stepping into a world of luxury and convenience.

While the building appears to be a traditional limestone and brick structure, that is where tradition ends and luxury takes over.

From the minute one pulls up to the front door, a valet parking attendant will whisk your car away to your garage space and have someone bring up your groceries or packages, according to the current owner.

When going out, a simple phone call will have one’s car waiting at the lobby door within 10 minutes.

Immediately off the lobby is a reading room with a library of books on hand as well as a conference room that has the integrated technology to make any business meeting run smoothly.

An elevator gives residents and guests a smooth, quick ride to any of the 33 floors of residences or other areas in the building.

On the 17th floor, Unit 17-D has French white oak hardwood floors, nearly floor-to-ceiling windows with UV protected glass, and 10-foot ceilings that give the rooms and spaces a wide open feel.

“This is the premier view in the building,” Broker Shelagh Brennan of Cabot and Company said. “You can see all the way to Blue Hills. You can see fireworks. It’s so well insulated you don’t hear any noise.”

The kitchen area looks out onto the dining and living room areas and has all the high-end appliances and touches one would expect here, including a fully integrated 42-inch Sub-Zero refrigerator with a double freezer and a built-in wine cooler.

A five-burner stainless steel Miele gas cook top, convection oven, dishwasher and GE Spacemaker microwave oven make cooking and cleaning a breeze while polished Ivory Coast espresso stone counters and Kallista designer polished chrome sink fixtures add elegance to the kitchen.

Natural lighting floods the living area and dining areas from a southern facing view making lights almost unnecessary during bright summer days.

The same is true for the bedrooms, although there are black out shades to keep the rooms dark and comfortable for sleeping in.

With lots of storage space including a closet in the bedroom and his-and-hers walk-in closets with built-in storage organizers in the hallway, the master bedroom is a generous size with gorgeous city views.

Its en suite bathroom includes a soaking tub, an oak double vanity with two-inch thick golden onyx counters and polished Calacatta gold marble flooring.

Elegance is also on display here with sconce lighting, a walk-in shower with mosaic tile floors, a rain showerhead and a triple panel mirrored medicine cabinet.

A second bedroom also has a southern exposure and could easily be converted into a home office or study.

The guest bathroom in the hallway has some of the same elegant features as the master bath including center sconce lighting, Botticino marble floor, base and tub top and polished nickel bathroom accents and shower fixtures.

For special occasions such as parties, baby showers or family gatherings, the Clarendon Clubroom can be used reserved for $150 for the entire day. On the sixth floor, the clubroom has a kitchen, plenty of room for sitting and access to a private area of the terrace.

“If you want to have friends over and have a meal, if you want to have a party, you can reserve the room,” Brennan said. “(With the terrace) off of the clubroom you can have an indoor and outdoor party.”

Should a rainy day keep the little ones cooped up inside, an on-site playroom on the sixth floor is available with toys, books, puzzles and stuffed animals to keep children and their friends happy.

It also includes a microwave, refrigerator, sink and bathroom to make for an uninterrupted morning or afternoon of fun.

When it’s time for adults to take care of themselves, the onsite gym with treadmills, elliptical machines, weights, rowing machine and other state of the art equipment in a fitness center managed by Equinox Club, make a healthy body is just a few floors away.

Because of the partnership with Equinox, trainers can be hired to come give residents a private session in the fitness center or a discounted membership to the Equinox club is available.

With energy efficient HVAC systems and green cleaning and maintenance practices, even the roof was built with an eye toward efficiency with rooftop landscaping that minimizes heat retention and increases storm water absorption.

Brennan said the full amenity package, the location and convenience are what make the Clarendon condominiums stand out from others.

“You’re a couple minutes from Newbury Street and right at the South End for all the restaurants and cafes,” Brennan said. “In terms of transportation and cultural attractions, you’re right at Copley Square quickly too.”
