Looking for a place to call home on Boston’s waterfront? One of the newest developments to consider is the gorgeous 15-story Lovejoy Wharf under construction within distance of the Leonard P. Zakim Memorial Bridge. This sparkling collection of 157 new condominiums hit the market last month and occupancy is expected to begin in late summer.
Lovejoy Wharf is centrally located on an untapped portion of the city’s waterfront at the nexus of the Charles River and Boston Harbor. It is easily within walking distance of Downtown, Beacon Hill, Cambridge and the North End. Located on what was formerly an industrial site, residents will love the very easy access to Boston's Harborwalk that connects to the Freedom Trail.
This is the first waterfront condominium to be delivered this year.
The 157 luxury residences range in size from studio to three-bedroom units, boasting beautiful views of not only the Zakim Memorial Bridge, but also of Boston Harbor, the Charles River, the Bunker Hill Monument and the urban skylines of Boston and Cambridge. Prices begin at $750,000 for studios to $3 million-plus for three-bedroom units.
Related Beal collaborated with the world-renowned design firm of Robert A.M. Stern Architects to create this sophisticated property.
“At Lovejoy Wharf, we sought to create a unique offering for Boston’s most discerning buyers. The building, designed by Robert A.M. Stern Architects, is as luxurious in its offering as it is considered in its design,” said Kimberly Sherman Stamler, President of Related Beal.
Robert A.M. Stern Architects designed Lovejoy Wharf to “pay homage to Boston's historic architecture and waterfront heritage in a contemporary way.”
The design is inspired by the city's tradition of red brick residential buildings with stacked bay windows. The striking red brick facades feature a “regular rhythm of large windows punctuated by glassy bays inflected toward the views.”
People will notice that as the building rises, the brick facades give way to a faceted glass curtain wall that gradually breaks free of the masonry.
Penthouse residences will love the breath-taking floor-to-ceiling views.
Related Beal is no stranger to Boston, having previously developed popular residential buildings such as The Clarendon, One Back Bay and The Arlington in Boston as well as other condominium and rental developments throughout the nation.
Arriving at Lovejoy Wharf, people will find a staffed entrance trimmed in hand-selected granite and limestone and sheltered by a bronze canopy. Residents and their guests will be welcomed into a distinctive lobby with travertine floors, walnut millwork and curated art (Charlotte Riggs of Boston Art is the curator). The building's three-story limestone-trimmed passage is highlighted by a beautiful view of the Bunker Hill Monument across the Charles River and leads to the property's wharf-side restaurant collection.
Each unit at Lovejoy Wharf offers residents a wide range of high-end luxury. Sizes start at 700 square feet for one-bedroom to 1,800-plus square feet for three bedrooms on the penthouse level. Residents will find additional storage available in the building.
Finishes at Lovejoy Wharf will please everyone with wide plank flooring, kitchens with custom cabinets and high-end appliances along with marble bathrooms.
“We paid meticulous attention to the details and have incorporated the finest finishes and materials throughout the building and the residences, and crafted a suite of state-of the-art amenities that are coupled with our highly acclaimed hospitality-inspired service package,” said Stamler.
The contemporary kitchens are going to make cooking a joy with handset stone-tile backsplashes, custom wood cabinets with glass insets, stainless steel fixtures, under-cabinet lighting and under-mount sinks.
Every unit has 100 percent Energy Star and stainless steel appliances, including integrated refrigerators and 34-bottle wine coolers by Gaggenau. Preparing large meals is no problem with five-burner cooktops with built-in vent hoods, touch-panel ovens and convection micro-ovens. Cleanup is easily handled with help from the Bosch dishwashers.
Bathrooms and powder rooms offer a classic, elegant design palette with marble tile floors and walls as well as custom vanity and cabinets. Relaxing will come easy with Kaldewei deep-soaking tubs. All residences also feature in-unit Bosch washers and dryers.
Enjoying the wonderful views of the world outside will be enhanced at a number of the units with private outdoor terraces.
The homes at Lovejoy Wharf offer more than just a place to sleep. There is also wide range of exclusive amenities and services, including 24-hour concierge service and a doorman staff. Residents will have exclusive access to a spacious state-of-the-art “wharf-side health club, fitness studio and resident lounge, all of which embrace the property’s views of the waterfront and the urban skyline.”
One of the unique benefits for residents is a large and distinctive library lounge that embodies “a sense of classic elegance reimagined for a contemporary address.” Get to know the neighbors with a friendly game in the fourth floor billiards room. There is also a business center. Parents will have access to a children’s room to entertain the younger members of the family.
There are also opportunities to meet the neighbors and take in the sweeping ocean view from the spacious landscaped rooftop terrace on the 12th floor. Landscape architect HM White designed this beautiful area. It’s a great space for hosting friends and family, especially with the built-in private grills and gas fireplaces.
The building is also pet-friendly with an onsite dog spa.
Residents will find parking available at area garages.
For those who get around the city by peddling, there is ample storage for bicycles. Enjoy all the waterfront beauty of the area with Boston’s Harborwalk right out the door of the property.
"We're very pleased that Related Beal gave us this opportunity to design a building on this very special gateway site facing the harbor and the Zakim Interstate 93 Bridge," said Robert A.M. Stern, founder and senior partner of Robert A.M. Stern Architects. "Together we have created a contemporary building rooted in the city's traditions, one that prioritizes spectacular views not only for the residents, but also for those who come to the Wharf along the Freedom Trail, where the building's public passage dramatically frames a view to the Bunker Hill Monument across the Charles River."
